The Founder and CEO,
Tammie Spivey
Welcome to
"The Healthy Fork" website! I am the founder of the forth-coming Atlanta organically based fast-food restaurant
"The Healthy Fork". If
you're like most people your starting off 2010 with a resolution about
getting healthier-losing weight, exercising more and eating better. But
perhaps, the most important question is or was: How will you do it? The typical thought behind resolutions when it comes to the body are what we see on the outside, but I'm going to help you with the
"inside".
In 2007, I decided to make a lifetime commitment to nutritionally wholesome food, balanced eating
and sustainable living that is based on the premise that you are what
you eat, drink and breathe, and that it is important to take responsibility
for one’s own health. Sometimes
we need an inspiration to do things or do things better and I want to
share with you my inspiration for "The Healthy Fork".
I have always
had a personal passion for health and wellness and having good eating
habits,
but in the Spring of2007, those eating habits were slightly challenged. I was faced
with a health challenge. And, as a woman who had not yet
had the wonderful opportunity to experience motherhood, I quickly
resolved to changing my overall diet to an organic one and more healthful one, being more
concern what was going into my body and keeping my body in
shape and my mind sharp through diet and exercise. But, daily,
especially as a working person, I found it to be difficult to maintain
eating healthy and organically outside of the home.
"The Healthy Fork" will be a
fast-food organic restaurant to cater to people who want to eat better,
acquire natural foods
and be conducive to a fast paced lifestyle. Yes, it might be a bit
expensive going organic. But it's important. I make buying and eating
organic foods
a priority. Keep it simple. Like our cars, our bodies too require
maintenance, tune-up's and prevention. It means doing my best to help my family
eat
well, sleep well and stay in shape.
My profession career is in
the non-clinical sector of the Healthcare field, and with that has been
the personal enjoyment of educating
healthy eating habits and keeping the body
well through nutrition and natural means. I try to live a very full
life. I take steps to take care of myself, starting with the basics. I
make sleep a priority, eat healthily of course, and work regular
exercise into my schedule. Most of all, I squeeze in the all-important
downtime and make room for things that bring me personal joy like spending time with the special person in my life and my nephews who are my inspiration for
the
"Little Forks" section for healthy kids. Of course, I have days that drag,
but I'm determined to keep health and happiness my primary goals. I
have a strong passion for cooking and the challenge of trying out new recipes especially around the holidays.
I
hope
"The Healthy Fork" website, resources and forth-coming restaurant will
inspire you to a healthier life and I look forward to seeing you at my
Grand Opening in Atlanta in the Fall of 2010.
